I have a Walter Thomas BRERETON, born 1893, married to Ethel Eliza FEARNLEY. They, and their three children, were all born in Norfolk, England.

I would appreciate any help in finding Walter and Ethel's ancestry.

Thank you

I'm not sure if this is any help but this is their marriage registration:

and Walter's birth registration

I did find two newspaper references to Walter, it seems he was a farmer living in Lower Hellesdon Norfolk (this is a part of the Norwich registration district) I also found a private family tree on Ancestry that stated he was born "Born: 1893 in Arabian Horse public house,Norwich (Q 1893 vol 4b page 121)" I did find out that this was in Oak Street Norwich and closed in 1908.

http://www.georgeplunkett.co.uk/Norwich/oak.htm has some interesting old photos of Oak Street and the Inn yard.

Ethel was easier to find, as she appears on the 1901 census on Ancestry as Farnley, daughter of George W. and Harriet, aged 48 and 38, all born in Norwich. I can't make out his occupation, except that I think he worked for the Corporation as some type of Inspector. There are other children listed, and I can send you a copy of the census if you contact me through my site.

There are several public trees on Ancestry, that indicate that George married Harriet Read 1881 in Norwich. I can also send you a copy of their marriage entry, which is on line. It seems that George was illegitimate, as no father is listed for him.

I hope all this makes sense and is new information to you.

Thank you, Pauline

It was extremely kind of you to do this for me. I now have a something to work with.

I have noticed that, now and again in my searches, the name Fearnley became Farnley
