Photos - Latest First, or not?

A number of people have categorically stated that latest first is the correct order for photos. I will try not to be dogmatic about it, but in pure logical sense, that doesn't make sense. When printing out a tree, in any form, it would be like saying let's print the obits, followed by burial, followed by death, followed by marriage, then baptism, then birth - with other events interspersed. I would suggest that no-one would do that, so why do it with photos?

I must be a lousy gardener - most of my plants are dead.

Hi Ian, you will find on your rre that any photographs attached are in the order that you wish.

But I believe that you are confusing the issue.

If you have youngsters in your Family as most of us have, and you like us, upload our photographs to Albums. Surely you would want to see these first, and not have to go to the very end of your Album. This goes for any photographs such as Holidays Christmas etc.

Although we are dealing with TREES we are living in this age.

No Ian Alan and I are correct

Dear Les & Ian & Alan,

I still do not agree with you, the undated photos should be first, for the reasons (eg. regarding Charts and other undated research infomation) I have given before that neither of you have addressed.

Tribal Pages is not Flicker... the Photos are not just family holiday photos - they include charts and other research material and on my website newly acquired DNA information that I do not want to date, because 8-20 or more names can be attached to each chart with relevant dates going back to the 1700s. I want these charts to appear at the top of people's profiles - and do not want to have to change the date every year to keep them at the top... DNA info will not change - it is static.

New cousins coming to our Family Tree website do not want to go through all their ancestors photos and scroll to the bottom of the pile... just in case there is DNA Chart information there. It would be so much easier to immediately get a clear picture of the proof of our ancestral links if this important information remains at the top.

We will have to agree to differ... our opinions are based on personal choice. What a shame that we cannot choose how we want our photos ordered now this unwanted alteration has happened to our websites... but I expect that option will be too difficult to do.
