About The HOLT-CLOUD Family Trees
Dad had one clue he found in the Georgia Archives that he copied and put in a scrapbook. Mom gave me the scrapbook in her latter years after he died. He never pursued the lead, but he always wondered about his HOLT ancestors. So to honor him I set out on the Quest.

Encouraged by my best friend, Betty Mackay Asbury, and seeing what she accomplished on her Mother's MASON family, I set out. After fits 'n' starts, I had success in a trip "Down Home" stopping at libraries and historical archives on the way to and from AL to see my daughter and her husband as well as finding The Walter C.Bradley Memorial Library (now The Columbus Library) in Columbus,GA.

Plus finding a sixth cousin, twice removed, Dixie Lee Briggs, online who was kind enough to share her HOLT genealogy line back to England from where I hit my HOLT "brickwall" with William! I can't thank Mackay or Dixie enough for their help and kindnesses!!

Robert HOLT of Rochdale, Lancashire, England(now Manchester)landed in St.Marys, MD with his wife, Dorothy, and their four children in 1646. His family history reads like a soap opera! But that's a story for later.

I am still working on the HOLTs and the colateral lines: LINDSEY, CARSWELL, TUCKER, MATHIS, RUTHERFORD.

The CLOUD line, my Mom's side of this, is relatively intact back to William CLOUD, born 8 July 1621 , St.James Parish, Southbroom, Devizes, Wiltshire, England. William, and three sons, William,Jr, Jeremiah, and Robert arrived on the Ship, Unicorne, August 12,1682 at Chester co, Delaware with William Penn and his settlers.

I wish I had been interested in genealogy while I lived in Wilmington, DE as not only was I living where the CLOUDs had lived but I could have had access to all the CLOUD documents I could have desired! I think about how I could fill in with"local knowledge" on those old CLOUDs of Delaware! But with The CLOUD Association, I hope to fill in some CLOUD data I've missed. I need to work on colateral CLOUD lines: CHILDRESS, HARMON, WHEELER, too..still a lot of researching to do here!

This is really a"never-ending story", as most family histories are. I hope that if any "kissin' cousins" read this and have anything to add that you will let me know so I can include it here. If anyone sees anything that needs to be changed, please email me.

Be sure to sign the Guest Book, it's always nice to meet and see what people say.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
