Welcome to the Collins Family Web Site.
There are two main aims for this site, firstly, to collate and electronically store, in one location, family information, photographs and documents. Secondly, to make this information available to current and future members of the family. Please feel free to use any of the documents and photographs on this site but if they are to be used for commercial purposes please contact Simon first.
This project was started in early 2005 and it as an ongoing task. Please check back regularly for updates. Your input is also most welcome. Many key dates are missing or could be inaccurate. There are also some names missing and whole branches and generations of the family that have yet to be added. Over time, and with your help, these errors and omissions can be corrected and the definitive Collins Family archive will be created. Please contact Simon with your input and he will update the site as soon as humanly possible.
Please feel free to explore and enjoy the site. The default view starts with Simon's Son, Ben. To change this view just select a name from the pull down list and then by clicking on any person on the tree you will be able to view them and their family in more detail. Also, please sign the Guestbook. Your comments and feedback would be most welcome.
Please pass the web address of this web site on to other members of the family or anyone you may think may be interested in it.
The earliest Collins on this site is Moses Collins. According to his will he was a tailor from Chithurst in Sussex and he died in 1648. I have been unable to determine his year of birth but I guess, from when he died, he was born in the late 1500's.
The Aldingbourne branch of the family started with Moses's great grandson in the early 1700's and continues to this day with numerous members of the Collins family, (including Simon), who still live within 5 miles of Aldingbourne.
Finally, many thanks to all those who have contributed information, photographs and documents without which this site would not be as informative and interesting as it is.
In particular many thanks to the late Bertha Watson, Ron Collins, Rosemary Collins and her late husband, Fred Collins.
