The Smith family had a strong presence in Loogootee, Daviess County/Martin County, Indiana. Please view the Smith Family Tree.
Sinex Family Line- Our Sinex Family has been traced to the arrival of Sinnick Broer of Finnish descent and his family which included his wife, a daughter and two sons, Broer and Anders Sinnicksson who left Sweden in November 1655 from Göteborg for there trip to New Sweden (New Castle County, Delaware). The descendants of Sinnick Broer, which continued to change the sir name from Sinnicksson, Sinicka, Senex, Sinexon, Sinie, Sinnexon, Sinex and other variations settled in Delaware, USA. At one time the family owned 460 acres in the area known as Deer Point. The Sinnicksson/Sinex family are founding members of Old Swedes Church, which is the oldest standing church in the USA and is located in Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware. Records show some of our Sinex family members are buried at Old Swedes Church (A photo of church is found under Photos section of site).
The Sinex family came to Indiana as early as the 1820's when three of Henry Sinex Jr. son's left Delaware and settled in Floyd County,New Albany,Indiana. The three brothers were John Sinex (County Coroner), Thomas Sinex (Lumber Merchant) and Brewer Sinex (Butcher). The Sinex line crosses with the Woody family line when Lisetta Woody (daughter of James M Woody)married Pleasant Fleetwood Sinex (son of Brewer Sinex). The Owens Family line crosses when Rosetta Owens (daughter of John Little Owens)married James M Woody. The Sinex, Owens and Woody families pre-date the founding of the United States of America and have family members that fought in the American Revolutionary War.
