Willam at aged 43 years (occupation General Labourer)
 Migrated to South Australia on ship "Shackamaxon" which left Liverpool on 4  October 1852
 with Wife Lucy and Five (5) children.
 Robert 14 yrs old , Joshua 11 yrs old , William 10 yrs old , Samuel 7 yrs  old , James 1  yr old.
 arriving Port Adelaide, South Australia on 19 Jan 1853.

The Shackamaxon,(Capt. William Henry West)  which left Liverpool on 4 October  1852 with 696 migrants lost 65 people, mostly children through scarlet fever.  Those surviving this trip eventually settled in South Australia.

SHACKAMAXON 
 The "Shackamaxon" was described as a frigate-like vessel of approx. 1200 tons  (various tonnages ranging from 1119 to 2500 quoted by different sources)  belonging to the Port of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She was launched on 10  July 1851 and went to sea on 2 August. Length 175 feet overall, 37 feet 6  inches beam. Height between decks 7 feet 3 inches.
